Lauren G. Macaluso MD, FAAP, IBCLC

    Lauren is a board certified pediatrician and an internationally board certified lactation consultant in a private breastfeeding medicine practice. She received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 1990.  After graduation, she received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 1994.  She went onto complete her pediatric residency at Children's National Medical Center of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1997. 

    Her special interest in breastfeeding started after nursing her own two children for over a year, while working part-time as a general pediatrician at a teaching hospital. She was an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and director of the newborn nursery rotation at Flushing Hospital Medical Center until August 2006. She now has privileges at North Shore Manhasset and LIJ Schneider Children's Hospitals. 

    She lives in Douglaston, NY with her husband Vincent Macaluso, a neurologist who specializes in and has multiple sclerosis. She joins him at patient education programs when she can and speaks about being married to and parenting with someone with MS. She is an active mom to her 10 year old daughter, Abby and her 7 year old son, Vincent.  As a former college field hockey player she continues to be active in sports.  She is now an avid runner, tennis player, basketball coach, and can be seen frequently on the front lawn pitching in a wiffle ball game.
